NUP’s Rashida Namboowa becomes first woman to be elected district chairperson in Butambala.

National Unity Platform party (NUP) candidate Namboowa Rashida declared winner of Butambala district LC. V chairperson after defeating NRM’s Hajji Muhammad Lwoga with a big margin.

Ms Namboowa has become the first woman to be elected the district chairperson since it was curved from Mpigi in 2010.Ms Namboowa (NUP) scored 16,754 votes defeating Hajji Muhammad Lwoga Nsiyaleeta of National Resistance Movement (NRM) who got 5,856 votes.

Former Butambala district Wpman MP Mariam Nalubega who lost in NRM primaries (Independent) got 1,626 votes.

While Ibrahim Mutyaba Star of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) scored 588 votes.And Edward Ssebuyiira (Independent) got 283 vote, Mr Isaac Wamala of Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) become last with 151 votes.
