Hon Rita Atukwasa donates tonnes of maize seeds to farmers in Mbarara
Woman MP Mbarara City Hon Rita Atukwasa last month in conjunction with her ground team donated 3 tonnes maize seeds to farmers in Bugashe, Nyarubungo and Kichwamba.
Hon Atukwasa said the rain season and it’s a sign to plant encouraging farmers in her area to plant during this season to ensure food security and assurance in the future.
During the giving away of these seeds to the farmers, she was informed that Kicwamba ward was badly hit by a storm and the livelihood of the farmers has been threatened as most of their plantations are down.
Hon Rita Atukwasa promised to work with the government and line ministries in charge of disaster preparedness to come with practical solutions on how the farmers can be helped.
The locals thanked for always coming out with good programs that ensure that they have food security and also having the surplus to sell to the markets to earn some income.
