Nowip Press has learnt that Sembabule District Woman MP Hon Mary Begumisa this month launched a campaign aimed at giving each home in Sembabule 10 trees to plant as a way foward to conserve the environment and paint Sembabule green.
Hon Bemugisa said that in the recent past, people have encroached so much on the forest reserves to burn charcoal, cut timber, construct houses something that may have diverse effects on nature and the environment at large.
She added that she has therefore launched this campaign to make sure that at least each family can plant 10 trees and in the next 5 years, Sembabule will be green again with the environment well conserved.
Hon Bemugisa also promised to sell her idea to other members of parliament in the different districts to make sure that Uganda does not go through hard times like some of other countries who destroyed their forest reserves all in the vein of development.
According to NEMA statistic, atleast 10,000 trees are cut everyday in Uganda something that may affect the environment if not controlled.
